Simply Birth : Our History.
Simply Birth is an intimate business, in Feb of 2006 I found out I was pregnant with our 4th baby, and having had 3 amazing water birth experiences in the Uk, I immediately started to look at was available here in Australia - I found children’s paddling pools, cumbersome wooden pools and spa’s, nothing like what I had birthed in before.
My quest took me back to England (albeit an online journey) and I found La Bassine, a Made in Water product. I was extremely impressed with the design, the cost and the ethics of Made in Water and so I contacted the company..
Having no real experience in business, we took the plunge and committed to bringing La Bassine into Australia and making it available to every woman that wanted one. Over several Pizzas and quite a few beers, the concept of Simply Birth was born.
Several months later, we now find ourselves in business and as my belly grows, so does the international reputation of La Bassine, with enquires coming in from all over the Southern Hemisphere.
Our reputation is very important to us, we are a new business and believe strongly in what we do. We want to hear your birth stories and we want to hear your feedback. Infact, if you have any ideas about amazing products that you think every birthing woman should know about, we would love to hear about it.
So that’s us, our brief history, we wish you luck in your choices and joy in your parenting. Oh and watch this space, in October our “Baby Sparkle“, the seedling of our business will be born, at home in La Bassine and photos will no doubt follow
With love,
Lisa and Pete, AKA SIMPLY BIRTH!!!!!!
NEWS OCT 2006
Baby Sparkle was born at home, after a looooong labour, on 30th October 2006. He joins his 3 adoring sisters..and a very rejected dog...... he weighed 3.875 kilos and is a very contented little mite.
Huge thanks to my hubby Pete for being with me, my 3 girlees who missed a day at school to help out, my mum, for her continual love and support and the brilliant Community Midwives, Ruth and Mary, for making this home birth possible, where under any other maternity care system ..... I wouldn't have been given the time necessary to allow my baby to be born naturally.
Ever in gratitude......
Lisaxx

NEWS JUNE 1st 2007
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US
It has now been exactly a year, since we launched our Made In Water Pools at the Home Birthing Conference in Melbourne. What a year!!
We have sold over 350 pools, imported many more and now sell liners.
Literally hundreds of women have laboured and birthed in our pools.
We now sell to mums, Midwives, Doulas, Birth Centres and some really forward thinking hospitals....looks like Australia is really getting to grips with Water Birth!
We have got FANTASTIC feedback and awesome photos from the women that have used our pools, I look regularly at the testimonial page for my weekly water birth kick!
Thank you to all for your support, feedback and enthusiasm for what we are doing.
Here's to the next year!!
NEWS JUNE 2009 (so busy I missed a year!!)
It is with great excitement that we venture into the next stage of our business. We are bringing Birth Pool In A Box to Australia and New Zealand. They are very popular in the UK and USA and I really think Australia is ready for choice.
As ever, we endeavour to keep costs low, but shipping from China is increasingly expensive and we absorb the increases as much as we can. We still think we offer great value and now sell to several hospitals through out Australia with more enquiries coming in all the time. We have also sold to Malaysia, China, Singapore and Indonesia. Even had an enquiry from South Africa.
So if you ever wondered what goes on behind our fabulous website, picture a stressed mum with at least 3 empty coffee cups at hand, kids tearing around, dogs barking at every passing cat, dog or bird and 8 chooks scratching about in the yard...its chaos! However, the kids know not to answer the phone and I try to catch up on most stuff when they are in bed, I absolutely LOVE my business. I am so thrilled when I see photos of women birthing in the pools and still love getting the photos, I have a massive back log of donated pictures that I need to update the site with. Soon, soon.........
This is a little picture story of my 4 fantastic kids, assisting with the latest shipment,
1) After "release" from Customs the container is deposited on our lawn
2) My little man helps his dad in cutting the security bolt
3) Let the kids have a bit of fun
'
4) They build a castle
5) Then they earn their lunch!
Our products have been chosen for their practicalities and their potential to enhance and compliment every woman’s right to a fabulous birthing experience.
